MORE ABOUT OUR APPROACH…
Gymnastics is often taught with only the end goal in mind: for children to learn gymnastics. At Little Mountain Gymnastics, we recognize how important the process is, not just the product. The first few years of a child’s life are crucial for healthy development, and our curriculum is designed to assist and promote that development by carefully selecting movement patterns that provide specific benefits. Our classes emphasize gross and fine motor skills as we help your child meet those important physical milestones like crawling, walking, balancing, and jumping; however, an equal amount of emphasis is placed on neurological development. Research shows a correlation between certain movements and the acquisition of cognitive skills, and we use this information to create a program that will give young children a strong foundation for future success.
Audrey Jones
MEET THE OWNER
In 1996, Audrey took her first gymnastics class, fell in love immediately, and the sport has been at the center of her life ever since. Her gym became her second home, her team became her second family. As she got older, she spent her weekday nights practicing gymnastics and her weekend mornings learning how to coach and, at the age of fourteen, she accepted a coaching position at her home gym. She continued this dual role as both athlete and coach throughout college where she realized that whatever career she chose must allow her time for gymnastics.
So, Audrey’s adult life was filled with part time day jobs; she worked in food service, she worked in customer service, she was an early education teacher, a translator, even a physical therapy technician… but she spent every evening and weekend coaching gymnastics. In 2018, after a career-ending diagnosis forced her to quit both coaching and practicing, she fought to keep the sport in her life and received her judging credentials.
Three years later and unexpectedly cured, Audrey found herself coaching gymnastics once again, and this return to coaching brought with it a renewed desire to fulfill her lifelong dream of opening her own gym. Drawing from experiences in her life that inspired her most - biomechanics and early education - and combining them with her passion for gymnastics, Audrey finally established Little Mountain Gymnastics.
